The Firebird
The Firebird
The Firebird is a creature of old Slavic folklore, best known for emitting brilliant red, orange and gold light, like the flames of a fire. The feathers continue to glow even when removed and are often the initiator of a great quest ahead. Because the bird is so beautiful and elusive, everyone wants to capture it, but often only a feather is retrieved. Once encountered, it is almost always the catalyst for great change as sets in motion difficult events for the hero(ine) to go through. The token of these tales, however, is that ultimately the path initiated by the golden feather represents the essential spiritual growth and transformation one must experience to harness the potential of one’s full power.
